An introduction to the Ñustas
With Helena Lavery
Saturday 26 August
2.00 - 5.00pm
Flow Studio, 52 Hill St, Cathedral Quarter
Ñusta is the Quechua name for Princess in the Inca Empire. During the Spanish invasion many of the Kings & Queens were killed. In order to preserve their memory, the native people sent the spirit of their Royal families to the land around them. The Incas were set to the mountains (Apus), and the rivers, lakes & caves were for the female spirits - the Ñustas. However they are most powerfully retained in the Texi Ñustas and - the elements.
The essence of all being is living energy (Kausay). Our physical and energetic health depend on the unrestricted flow of this life force energy, it is the source of wholeness and wellness. The channels through which kausay flows, can become heavy, blocked or stagnant due to factors within and sometimes outside of our control. Ultimately, being aware of the flow of energy sustaining us, enables us to take charge of our own well-being by practicing how to drive, absorb and transform heavy energy into energy that empowers us. When we are grounded and in in a good state of mind and health, the energy is lighter and free-flowing. Being in the flow of life, we have an unobstructed view of our purpose and the direction we are headed.
The yoga in this workshop will help you push through some of your limiting beliefs about yourself, while being conscious of your capacity. We will practice some Andean techniques to engage with the Ñustas to empower ourselves.
As always, there will be some sacred chocolate from the cacao spirit of Guatemala to assist us on our journey.
