with Luke Jordan
Luke Jordan is one of a small number of teachers in the world Certified to share the advanced teachings of the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method as it was taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and continues to be passed on by Sharath Jois. Luke first came to the practise in 2000 after a period of deep personal inquiry and involvement with alternative spiritual practises. From the first 'Ujjayi' breath, Luke was hooked and soon found his way to Mysore, India to practise with Guruji (K P Jois). Since then Luke has been travelling internationally giving classes, workshops and seeking out teachers who can deepen his understanding of this mysterious thing called ‘yoga’ on both a physical level and the spiritual. Luke holds a Masters degree in Indian Religion and seeks in his teachings to combine the physical and philosophical elements of Yoga to make a greater whole.
This workshop is designed for seasoned practitioners and beginners alike. While working on the basics of the 'form' of the Ashtanga Yoga practise we will at the same time work on deepening the levels of subtle awareness that makes this special yoga practise a whole.
Following this workshop, Luke will be providing a week of traditional 'Mysore Style' Yoga at our Malone studio (51 Malone Road) - Monday 1st to Friday 5th May from 6.30-8.30am. This is the traditional way of learning the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method. Students receive one-on-one instruction within a group setting. This is the only way to develop the intensity of concentration necessary to make this yoga practise flourish.
