Yin Yoga Support for Winter
Saturday 16th December
2 - 4pm
Yin Yoga is a wonderful complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic style of vinyasa flow. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body.
Physically, the practice helps to maintain and improve natural joint mobility. Energetically, it opens & balances the body’s meridian system supporting healthy organ function further enhancing the body’s energetic flow.
Winter is the most yin of all the seasons and its harshness can negatively impact our health and emotional well-being. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), water is the primary element of winter and its associated organs are the kidneys & bladder. Utilising the Five Element Theory of TCM we will practice a series of postures targeting the spine, low-back and kidneys to help re-balance and revitalise our vital energy.
The yin qualities of quiet reflection and retreat aim to not only soften the body, but the mind and heart as well.
In 2016 Denis completed his 30hr Foundations of Yin Yoga Module with his teacher Josh Summers and plans to complete his 300hr advanced teacher training with him over the coming years.
