Live Music, Yoga & Poetry with Jack Harrison

'Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.’ - Plato

Flow Academy invites you to join their 'Yoga Musicology' weekend. Join singer-songwriter, folklorist and yoga teacher Jack Harrison for the final offering of yoga and music on Sunday 8th October.

This is a practice which has been inspired by the hazel woods and the living limestone of the Burren in County Clare. It will include breath-work, physical postures, poetry and music and will be open to all levels of practice. The physical practice is a series of postures threaded on the music of the breath and the universal dance between the masculine and feminine, integration and expansion, which pervades everything we do and everything we are. The title is also inspired by WB Yeats, who had a great interest in yoga philosophy, when he wrote:

I went down to the hazelwood

Because a fire was in my head…

This practice recognises that these lines are a natural movement towards yoga.

Jack Harrison is a Certified Anusara Yoga teacher, folklorist and musician. He has worked and studied in all three of these areas for the last 30 years and integrates these paths together in his Celtic School of Yoga & Music Workshops, which include musicbreath-work, poetry, myth and yoga. He is a principal author of a seminal book on the parallels between yoga and the Celtic world and he has also recorded three acclaimed albums of yoga music. His teaching is very much based on the changing rhythms of these latitudes and the vital importance of breath in Asana.

A flowing, but gentle class using the three principles of opening, integration, and expansion. The class will focus on the harmony of the breath and movement in asana practice and suggest how you can approach your own practice.
